Visits and first hand experiences
At Victoria Primary School, we believe strongly that first hand experiences are a vital part of learning, support our children to make sense of their world, broaden their horizons and improve attainment across the curriculum. Evidence shows that personal life experiences support children in their learning, as they are able to draw on those experiences to contextualize the curriculum as they learn, throughout their school and future lives.
To ensure we support our children in accessing as many experiences as possible, our curriculum is designed to incorporate many visits, visitors and learning experiences beyond the classroom. We utilize the rich heritage in the locality of Keighley and access the amazing range of landscapes and environments on our doorstep. We also travel slightly further afield and visit the coast, giving children the chance to experience things like travelling to sea on a boat.
School have invested in three minibuses to enable us to provide this level of experience for all children across school and every child from Nursery through to Year 6 goes on a minimum of one trip per half term.
